About Silvaris University Hospital — San Francisco, CA
SilverOak University Hospital San Francisco sits at the intersection of world-class academic medicine and the Bay Area's unrivaled biomedical innovation ecosystem. As a 480-bed teaching hospital embedded in one of the densest concentrations of biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies on the planet, SilverOak SF is uniquely positioned to translate laboratory discoveries into clinical reality at a pace and scale unmatched anywhere else in the country.
Precision medicine is not an aspiration here — it is the operational standard. Our genomics program has sequenced the tumors of more than 12,000 cancer patients, generating actionable mutation data that guides targeted therapy selection for lung, breast, colorectal, pancreatic, and hematologic malignancies. SilverOak SF is a founding member of the Cancer Moonshot Genomics Consortium, contributing data to a national precision oncology initiative that will ultimately reshape how every American with cancer is treated.
The HIV/AIDS Center of Excellence at SilverOak SF is a legacy of the hospital's deep commitment to the Bay Area community that was hardest hit by the epidemic. Today, that center serves as a model of integrated HIV medicine, with infectious disease specialists, psychiatry, social work, and pharmacy working in tight coordination to achieve a 93% viral suppression rate among active patients — among the highest in the nation. Our long-term survivors clinic addresses the complex medical and psychosocial needs of patients living with HIV for 20 or more years.
LGBTQ+ health is a foundational institutional commitment at SilverOak University SF. We are recognized by the Human Rights Campaign as a top-performing Leader in LGBTQ+ Healthcare Equality and provide comprehensive affirming care for gender-diverse patients across all service lines, including a gender-affirming surgery program, transgender hormone management, and fertility preservation before gender transition. Our patient advisory council includes robust LGBTQ+ community representation that directly shapes institutional policy and clinical program design.
