Emergency Medicine at SilverOak Health is a 24-hour, 365-day specialty dedicated to the immediate assessment, resuscitation, and stabilisation of patients presenting with acute and life-threatening conditions. Our emergency physicians, emergency nurses, and allied health team are trained to manage the entire spectrum of acute illness and injury with speed, precision, and compassion.
The emergency department operates a triage system that ensures the most critically ill patients receive immediate attention. Major resuscitation bays are equipped with advanced airway management, mechanical ventilation, defibrillation, and point-of-care diagnostics. A dedicated paediatric emergency area provides age-appropriate care for children, with paediatric resuscitation equipment and child-friendly assessment spaces.
Time-critical pathways for acute myocardial infarction, stroke, sepsis, and major trauma are embedded in our emergency department workflow. Direct cardiac catheterisation laboratory activation for STEMI, stroke thrombectomy referral, and early goal-directed sepsis therapy are standard components of our acute care protocols, translating evidence-based medicine into time-sensitive patient outcomes.
Toxicology and poisoning management, psychiatric crisis assessment, and management of acute breathlessness, acute renal failure, and neurological emergencies are all managed within the department, with specialist inpatient services available for seamless escalation when required. Our emergency medicine team works in close collaboration with all hospital specialties to facilitate timely admission, investigation, and definitive treatment.
Quality improvement, simulation training, and education are core pillars of our emergency medicine programme.
