Sports Medicine & Orthopaedic Rehabilitation

The Sports Medicine & Orthopaedic Rehabilitation Centre at SilverOak Health serves athletes and active individuals at every level — from recreational exercisers to elite professionals — providing rapid, accurate diagnosis, evidence-based treatment, and targeted rehabilitation to enable safe, timely return to sport and activity. Our sports medicine physicians, orthopaedic surgeons, physiotherapists, strength and conditioning coaches, and sports dietitians collaborate as an integrated team.

Non-operative sports medicine services encompass musculoskeletal ultrasound assessment and imaging-guided procedures — including corticosteroid, platelet-rich plasma, and hyaluronic acid injections — for tendinopathies, ligament injuries, bursitis, and osteoarthritis. Biomechanical analysis using motion capture and force plate technology identifies movement dysfunction contributing to injury risk. Concussion management follows SCAT5 protocols with graduated return-to-play under medical supervision. Sports cardiology provides pre-participation cardiovascular screening and ECG interpretation for competitive athletes.

Surgical sports medicine is delivered arthroscopically through small portals. ACL reconstruction using autograft tissue with anatomical tunnel placement and criteria-based return-to-sport testing achieves re-rupture rates below published benchmarks. Meniscal repair — preferred over partial meniscectomy wherever biologically feasible — preserves meniscal function and reduces long-term osteoarthritis risk. Shoulder stabilisation for instability, rotator cuff repair, SLAP lesion management, and hip arthroscopy for femoroacetabular impingement complete our arthroscopic portfolio.

Cartilage defect treatment using microfracture, autologous chondrocyte implantation, osteochondral autograft (OATS), and matrix-assisted autologous chondrocyte implantation offers options for patients with focal chondral defects who wish to preserve their natural joint and delay or avoid joint replacement. Platelet-rich plasma and bone marrow aspirate concentrate injections are offered for biologically active patients with early-to-moderate arthritis seeking to delay surgical intervention.

Our rehabilitation programme follows validated criteria-based, not time-based, return-to-sport protocols, ensuring athletes demonstrate objective evidence of limb symmetry in strength, power, and neuromuscular control before resuming full competition. Injury prevention programmes using FIFA 11+, neuromuscular training, and load management education are offered to teams and individual athletes to reduce primary and recurrent injury risk. Our performance rehabilitation team works with athletes throughout the recovery continuum — from acute injury management through full competitive return.
