Dr. William Turner

Dr. William Turner is a Fellow of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons with 24 years of neurosurgical experience following his medical degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, where he also completed his seven-year neurosurgery residency. He went on to complete a skull base and cerebrovascular fellowship at Barrow Neurological Institute, developing technical mastery in complex tumour surgery and cerebrovascular reconstruction.

Dr. Turner's operative practice encompasses primary and metastatic brain tumour resection, including glioblastoma, meningioma, acoustic neuroma, and pituitary adenoma surgery using awake craniotomy with intraoperative brain mapping for tumours in eloquent cortex. He has been an early adopter of fluorescence-guided surgery using 5-ALA and sodium fluorescein to maximise tumour resection while preserving functional tissue, and employs intraoperative MRI to confirm extent of resection before wound closure.

In cerebrovascular surgery, Dr. Turner performs cerebral aneurysm clipping, arteriovenous malformation resection, carotid endarterectomy, and superficial temporal to middle cerebral artery bypass for moyamoya disease and complex revascularisation. He has a special interest in deep brain stimulation for Parkinson's disease, essential tremor, and dystonia, and has implanted over 300 DBS systems in close collaboration with movement disorder neurologists.

Dr. Turner has published over 80 peer-reviewed papers and trained more than 20 neurosurgeons who are now faculty at leading academic centres. His research focuses on surgical decision-making in complex cerebrovascular pathology and outcomes following intraoperative brain mapping in glioma surgery. He is frequently recognised by national publications as among the top neurosurgeons in the United States, and patients travel from across the country to seek his expertise in complex cases.
