About
Dr. Rachel White is a neurologist and neuroscientist with an MD and PhD from the University of Washington, where her doctoral research examined the role of neuroinflammation in demyelinating disease. She completed neurology residency at University of Washington Medical Center and a clinical and research fellowship in multiple sclerosis and neuroimmunology at Johns Hopkins Hospital, where she worked with leading experts in MS clinical trials and biomarker development.
Dr. White's clinical practice is dedicated to multiple sclerosis and other inflammatory disorders of the central and peripheral nervous system, including neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder, autoimmune encephalitis, and inflammatory neuropathies. She conducts comprehensive diagnostic evaluations incorporating MRI, cerebrospinal fluid analysis, and advanced antibody testing, and develops individualised treatment plans drawing on the full spectrum of disease-modifying therapies available for MS, from platform injectables to high-efficacy infusion therapies.
Her research programme focuses on MRI-based biomarkers of neurodegeneration in MS, with particular interest in grey matter atrophy as a predictor of long-term disability progression. She participates in multiple national and international MS clinical trials and serves as a site investigator for phase II and III studies of emerging disease-modifying therapies. She has published in Annals of Neurology and Multiple Sclerosis Journal.
Dr. White is deeply committed to supporting patients navigating the uncertainty and lifestyle disruption that accompany a diagnosis of multiple sclerosis. She leads an MS support clinic that integrates a dedicated MS nurse, physiotherapist, and psychologist to address the multidimensional impact of the disease. She was recognised with the University of Washington's Young Investigator Award and is a passionate advocate for ensuring her patients have access to cutting-edge treatments through clinical trial participation.
