About

Dr. Stephanie Clark is a board-certified neurologist with subspecialty training in vascular neurology, having completed medical school at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine and neurology residency at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. She pursued advanced vascular neurology fellowship at University of Toronto's comprehensive stroke programme, where she developed expertise in acute stroke management, cryptogenic stroke evaluation, and cerebral venous thrombosis.

Dr. Clark's clinical focus encompasses acute ischaemic and haemorrhagic stroke management, transient ischaemic attack risk stratification, and secondary stroke prevention. She runs a dedicated TIA rapid-access clinic that has been shown to reduce 90-day stroke risk through expedited investigation and early initiation of secondary prevention measures. Her expertise in the management of rare cerebrovascular conditions — including cerebral venous thrombosis, reversible cerebral vasoconstriction syndrome, and CADASIL — provides patients with access to highly specialised care within the same centre.

Her research programme investigates the optimal duration of anticoagulation after cryptogenic stroke and the yield of prolonged cardiac monitoring in detecting occult atrial fibrillation following stroke. She has published in Stroke and the European Stroke Journal, and serves on the programme committee of the American Stroke Association International Stroke Conference.

Dr. Clark is dedicated to involving patients in all aspects of their post-stroke care, recognising that recovery is as much a psychological journey as a physical one. She collaborates closely with stroke rehabilitation teams, social workers, and community support organisations to ensure patients have the resources and encouragement they need to achieve their best possible recovery. She has received Northwestern's Women in Medicine Leadership Award and mentors female medical students interested in neurology.
