About

Dr. Gregory Morris is a board-certified gastroenterologist and colorectal surgeon with 16 years of experience in the management of colorectal cancer and complex colonic disease. He earned his medical degree from Emory University School of Medicine and completed surgery residency and colorectal surgery fellowship at Emory University Hospital, followed by additional advanced gastroenterology training at the University of Pittsburgh, giving him a unique combined surgical and medical gastroenterology perspective.

Dr. Morris's practice encompasses the full range of colorectal surgery, including laparoscopic and robotic-assisted right and left hemicolectomy, sigmoidectomy, low anterior resection with total mesorectal excision for rectal cancer, abdominoperineal resection, and colectomy for inflammatory bowel disease. He is a proponent of enhanced recovery after surgery protocols that have reduced post-operative complications, shortened hospital stays, and improved functional recovery following major colorectal surgery.

His gastroenterology practice focuses on the diagnosis and surveillance of colorectal polyps and early colorectal cancers, hereditary colorectal cancer syndromes including Lynch syndrome and familial adenomatous polyposis, and the endoscopic management of luminal GI pathology. He leads a hereditary colorectal cancer registry that provides surveillance and risk-reduction counselling for at-risk families.

Dr. Morris has published on outcomes in robotic colorectal surgery and the management of locally recurrent rectal cancer, appearing in Diseases of the Colon and Rectum and Surgical Endoscopy. He is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons, serving on the latter's research committee. He is a clear communicator who ensures his patients understand both the oncological and functional implications of colorectal surgery before proceeding.
