About

Dr. Helen Rogers is a board-certified gastroenterologist with a clinical focus on hepatology and liver disease. She earned her medical degree from the University of North Carolina School of Medicine and completed gastroenterology and hepatology fellowship at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, which has one of the largest liver disease programmes on the East Coast. She subsequently undertook a dedicated transplant hepatology fellowship at Duke University Medical Center.

Dr. Rogers's hepatology practice encompasses viral hepatitis B and C — including complex retreatment scenarios and dual infection — alcoholic liver disease, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease and its progression to non-alcoholic steatohepatitis and cirrhosis, Wilson's disease, haemochromatosis, and cholestatic liver diseases including primary biliary cholangitis and primary sclerosing cholangitis. She performs diagnostic liver biopsies and supervises non-invasive fibrosis assessment using FibroScan and FIB-4 scores.

Her transplant hepatology practice provides pre-transplant listing evaluation, management of decompensated cirrhosis including diuretic-refractory ascites, spontaneous bacterial peritonitis, hepatic encephalopathy, and variceal haemorrhage. She participates in the multidisciplinary liver transplant selection committee and provides post-transplant longitudinal follow-up. She has a special interest in hepatocellular carcinoma surveillance and locoregional therapy prior to transplantation.

Dr. Rogers has published on the management of portal hypertension and non-invasive assessment of hepatic fibrosis in patients with NAFLD. She is a member of the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases and regularly presents at their annual meeting. She brings intellectual rigour and clinical thoroughness to the assessment of complex hepatological cases and is recognised by referring physicians as a thoughtful consultant who provides clear, actionable management recommendations.
