The Spine & Disc Centre at SilverOak Health provides comprehensive surgical and non-surgical management of the full spectrum of spinal conditions — from common disc herniations and degenerative disease to complex deformities, tumours, and trauma. Our spine surgeons hold dual orthopaedic and neurosurgical training, enabling a comprehensive operative armamentarium for the most complex cases, and work within a multidisciplinary spine team that ensures surgery is recommended only after all appropriate conservative treatments have been explored.
Minimally invasive spine surgery is the standard of care for appropriate cases at our centre. Tubular microdiscectomy for lumbar disc herniation, endoscopic discectomy, minimally invasive TLIF and PLIF for lumbar fusion, percutaneous pedicle screw fixation, and lateral lumbar interbody fusion through the retroperitoneal corridor dramatically reduce muscle damage, blood loss, and post-operative pain compared to conventional open approaches, translating into faster recovery and earlier return to work and activity.
Navigation-assisted and robotic-guided implant placement — using intraoperative CT-based navigation that updates in real time with patient movement — ensures sub-millimetre pedicle screw accuracy. This is particularly critical in complex deformity correction, revision surgery, and osteoporotic spine where implant malposition risks neurological injury or fixation failure. Three-dimensional intraoperative imaging provides immediate post-implantation confirmation of screw position before wound closure.
Cervical spine surgery — including anterior cervical discectomy and fusion, cervical artificial disc replacement, and posterior laminoplasty and laminectomy — addresses cervical radiculopathy and myelopathy with the goal of neural decompression and functional restoration. Adjacent segment disease after prior fusion, spinal instability, and stenosis with myelopathy requiring multilevel decompression and stabilisation are managed with staged planning and intraoperative neurophysiology monitoring.
Complex spinal deformity correction for adult de novo and degenerative scoliosis, kyphosis, and flatback deformity requires extensive pre-operative planning — including three-dimensional radiographic analysis, sagittal balance assessment, and simulation of proposed correction — to achieve optimal spinal alignment with acceptable surgical risk. Our spinal deformity programme collaborates with pain medicine, respiratory medicine, and geriatrics for optimising pre-operative status in frail patients. Spinal tumour resection, vertebroplasty and kyphoplasty for osteoporotic fractures, and spine trauma surgery complete our comprehensive spinal offering.
