Dr. Catherine Evans

Dr. Catherine Evans is a board-certified nephrologist with 16 years of experience in the management of chronic kidney disease, dialysis, and glomerular diseases. She completed her medical education at the University of Minnesota Medical School and nephrology fellowship at Mayo Clinic, where she developed expertise in glomerulonephritis, vasculitis, and the management of complex dialysis patients. Her clinical training instilled a rigorous, evidence-based approach to renal diagnosis and management.

Dr. Evans's clinical practice spans the full spectrum of nephrology, with particular expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of immune-mediated glomerular diseases including IgA nephropathy, membranous nephropathy, ANCA-associated vasculitis, and lupus nephritis. She performs diagnostic kidney biopsies and interprets biopsy pathology in close collaboration with renal pathologists, providing highly individualised treatment plans that balance disease control with minimisation of immunosuppressive toxicity.

Her haemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis practice serves patients with end-stage renal disease, with a focus on maximising quality of life, preserving residual renal function, and preparing patients for transplantation where appropriate. She is a champion of home dialysis modalities — both home haemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis — which offer patients greater flexibility and have been associated with improved clinical and patient-reported outcomes compared to in-centre haemodialysis.

Dr. Evans has contributed to research on the role of complement activation in IgA nephropathy and the use of novel biomarkers for early detection of acute kidney injury in hospitalised patients, publishing in Kidney International and the Clinical Journal of the American Society of Nephrology. She is a committed patient educator, leading monthly group sessions for CKD patients on diet, medication management, and preparation for renal replacement therapy.
