Electrophysiology

Electrophysiology at SilverOak Health is a subspecialty of cardiology dedicated to the diagnosis and catheter-based or device-based treatment of cardiac arrhythmias — abnormal heart rhythms that range from mildly symptomatic to life-threatening. Our electrophysiologists are subspecialty-trained with expertise in complex ablation techniques, advanced three-dimensional mapping, and the full range of cardiac device therapies.

Catheter ablation is performed for atrial fibrillation (pulmonary vein isolation using radiofrequency or cryoablation), atrial flutter, supraventricular tachycardias, accessory pathway ablation in Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome, and ventricular tachycardia ablation in patients with structural and non-structural heart disease. High-density electroanatomical mapping systems enable precise delineation of arrhythmia circuits and substrates, while contact force-sensing catheters ensure lesion quality and transmurality. Pulsed field ablation — a novel non-thermal energy source — is now available for pulmonary vein isolation, offering superior safety for oesophageal and phrenic nerve structures.

Device therapy services include implantation and follow-up of single, dual, and triple-chamber pacemakers, implantable cardioverter-defibrillators (ICDs), subcutaneous ICDs, and cardiac resynchronisation therapy devices. Leadless pacemakers — implanted entirely within the right ventricle without transvenous leads — are available for patients with high infection risk or venous access limitations. Remote device monitoring is standard for all implanted patients, with daily transmissions reviewed by our device clinic team and urgent alerts actioned within 24 hours.
