Neurosurgery

Neurosurgery at SilverOak Health provides surgical management of conditions affecting the brain, spine, peripheral nerves, and cerebrovascular system. Our neurosurgeons are fellowship-trained in brain tumour surgery, cerebrovascular surgery, functional neurosurgery, spinal surgery, and neuro-oncology, delivering a breadth and depth of operative capability that meets the needs of our complex regional referral base.

Brain tumour surgery employs the full complement of modern neurosurgical adjuncts — neuronavigation, intraoperative MRI, 5-ALA fluorescence guidance, intraoperative neurophysiological monitoring, and awake craniotomy with cortical and subcortical mapping — to maximise the extent of safe tumour resection while minimising neurological morbidity. Endoscopic approaches are used for pituitary tumours, colloid cysts, and intraventricular pathology, avoiding brain retraction and achieving excellent exposure through natural corridors.

Cerebrovascular surgery addresses intracranial aneurysms by microsurgical clipping — working in close collaboration with our interventional neuroradiology team, which performs endovascular coiling and flow diversion for suitable lesions. Arteriovenous malformation surgery, cavernoma resection, and EC-IC bypass for complex occlusive cerebrovascular disease complete our vascular repertoire. Spinal neurosurgery covers cervical and lumbar disc surgery, spinal cord tumour resection, Chiari malformation decompression, and complex spinal deformity correction. Our neuro-oncology MDT meets weekly to integrate neurosurgical, radiation oncological, and medical oncological management for every brain tumour patient.
