Dr. David Kim

Dr. David Kim is a Fellow of the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions with 16 years of experience in complex coronary and structural heart interventions. He completed medical school at the University of Michigan, followed by internal medicine residency at University of Chicago, cardiology fellowship at Northwestern University, and a dedicated interventional fellowship at Scripps Clinic in La Jolla, California, where he trained alongside pioneers in complex PCI technique.

Dr. Kim's interventional practice focuses on the most technically demanding coronary cases, including chronic total occlusion PCI using both antegrade and retrograde approaches, left main coronary intervention, rotational atherectomy, and orbital atherectomy for severe coronary calcification. He is a national proctor for complex CTO techniques and regularly travels to train interventional cardiologists at centres developing CTO programmes.

In structural heart disease, Dr. Kim performs transcatheter aortic valve replacement, percutaneous closure of patent foramen ovale and atrial septal defects, and left atrial appendage occlusion for stroke prevention in patients with atrial fibrillation who are unsuitable for long-term anticoagulation. He leads a weekly structural heart team meeting that reviews every complex case before intervention, ensuring multidisciplinary consensus and optimal patient selection.

His research has been published in JACC: Cardiovascular Interventions and the American Journal of Cardiology, addressing outcomes in CTO revascularisation and predictors of procedural success. He has been recognised with the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions Emerging Leader Award and serves on the society's complex and high-risk interventions committee. Patients consistently commend his thoroughness and willingness to explain procedural options in detail before any intervention.
