Paediatrics
Paediatrics at SilverOak Health is dedicated to the comprehensive medical care of infants, children, and adolescents from birth through to eighteen years of age. Our paediatricians bring expertise across the full range of childhood illnesses and developmental conditions, working closely with paediatric subspecialists to deliver coordinated, family-centred care in a warm and supportive environment.
Our general paediatric service manages common presentations including respiratory infections, febrile illness, gastroenteritis, asthma, allergies, and nutritional disorders. We place strong emphasis on growth monitoring, developmental surveillance, and vaccination, recognising that early detection of developmental delays and preventable diseases dramatically improves long-term outcomes for children.
Neonatal care is an integral part of our paediatric service. The neonatal intensive care unit admits premature babies, those with birth complications, congenital anomalies, and infants requiring surgical intervention in the newborn period. Our neonatologists, neonatal nurses, and allied health team provide developmentally supportive care using family-integrated care principles, involving parents as active participants in their baby's recovery.
Paediatric subspecialty consultations are available in cardiology, neurology, gastroenterology, endocrinology, haematology, and oncology. Complex cases are discussed in multidisciplinary teams that include paediatric surgeons, radiologists, and allied health professionals, ensuring holistic management of children with multi-system conditions.
Adolescent medicine — including eating disorders, mental health, reproductive health, and chronic disease management in teenagers — is an area of growing importance within our paediatric programme. We provide a non-judgemental, confidential space for adolescent patients, empowering young people to engage actively in their own healthcare. Transition planning from paediatric to adult services is carefully structured to ensure continuity of care for young people with long-term conditions.
