Cardiac Sciences
The Cardiac Sciences Centre of Excellence at SilverOak Health is one of the region's most comprehensive heart care programmes, managing thousands of cardiac cases annually across the full spectrum from preventive cardiology and outpatient management to complex interventions, cardiac surgery, and heart failure. Our team of interventional cardiologists, cardiac surgeons, electrophysiologists, and cardiac intensivists works within weekly multidisciplinary heart team meetings to ensure every patient receives the most appropriate, evidence-based treatment.
Interventional cardiology services include coronary angiography and percutaneous coronary intervention with drug-eluting stents, intravascular imaging with OCT and IVUS, and physiological assessment using FFR and iFR. Our primary PCI programme for STEMI maintains door-to-balloon times consistently within 60 minutes, meeting the most stringent international targets. Structural heart interventions — TAVR for aortic stenosis, MitraClip for mitral regurgitation, and left atrial appendage occlusion — are performed by our structural heart team in a dedicated hybrid catheterisation laboratory.
Cardiac surgery at our centre delivers coronary artery bypass grafting using total arterial revascularisation strategies with bilateral internal mammary arteries for superior long-term graft patency. Valve repair and replacement, combined coronary and valvular procedures, minimally invasive cardiac surgery via mini-sternotomy, and robotic-assisted procedures reduce the surgical burden while achieving excellent oncological outcomes. Off-pump CABG is available for patients with significant aortic atherosclerosis.
Our electrophysiology and arrhythmia service offers catheter ablation for atrial fibrillation — including pulsed field ablation — atrial flutter, supraventricular tachycardias, and ventricular tachycardia using high-density three-dimensional electroanatomical mapping. Device therapy services encompass implantation of pacemakers, ICDs, subcutaneous ICDs, leadless pacemakers, and cardiac resynchronisation therapy devices, with remote monitoring standard for all implanted patients.
Heart failure management integrates advanced pharmacological therapy, cardiac resynchronisation, and — for end-stage disease — evaluation for ventricular assist device implantation and cardiac transplantation at our advanced heart failure centre. Preventive cardiology and cardiac rehabilitation programmes focus on aggressive risk factor management and structured exercise, reducing first and recurrent cardiovascular events. Our cardiac outcomes are prospectively collected and benchmarked against national and international registry data.
