Neurosciences
The Neurosciences Centre of Excellence at SilverOak Health provides expert assessment and treatment for the full spectrum of neurological and neurosurgical conditions, from common presentations such as headache, epilepsy, and stroke to rare and complex neurodegenerative and neuro-oncological diseases. Our multidisciplinary team of vascular neurologists, epileptologists, movement disorder specialists, neurosurgeons, neuroradiologists, and neurorehabilitation therapists delivers seamlessly integrated care.
Our 24/7 Comprehensive Stroke Unit provides hyper-acute stroke management with CT and CT angiography within 15 minutes of arrival, intravenous thrombolysis within 30 minutes for eligible patients, and mechanical thrombectomy for large vessel occlusion initiated within 60 minutes door-to-groin. Our interventional team achieves successful recanalization in over 85% of thrombectomy cases, with functional independence at 90 days significantly exceeding published benchmarks.
Epilepsy services encompass a Level 4 monitoring unit with video-EEG, high-resolution MRI, PET and SPECT imaging, neuropsychological assessment, and stereo-EEG with intracranially implanted depth electrodes for presurgical evaluation. Resective surgery, laser interstitial thermal therapy, vagal nerve stimulation, and responsive neurostimulation are all offered within our established surgical programme, achieving seizure freedom rates exceeding 70% for mesial temporal sclerosis.
Movement disorders and Parkinson's disease management includes deep brain stimulation surgery with intraoperative microelectrode recording, specialist DBS programming, and a comprehensive multidisciplinary rehabilitation programme. Brain tumour surgery employs neuronavigation, intraoperative MRI, 5-ALA fluorescence, and awake craniotomy with cortical mapping to maximise safe resection extent. Cerebrovascular surgery addresses aneurysms, arteriovenous malformations, and complex occlusive disease.
Spine neurosurgery — covering cervical and lumbar disc surgery, spinal cord tumour resection, Chiari decompression, and complex deformity correction — is performed with intraoperative neurophysiology monitoring. Our neurorehabilitation programme — integrating physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech-language pathology, and neuropsychology — maximises functional recovery after neurological injury. Weekly neurosciences MDT meetings ensure every complex patient receives coordinated, evidence-based care.
