Dr. Michelle Lee

Dr. Michelle Lee is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons with 19 years of experience in surgical oncology, having trained at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center — consistently ranked among the world's leading cancer institutions. Her residency and fellowship training at MD Anderson gave her unparalleled exposure to high-volume, high-complexity cancer surgery across thoracic, hepatobiliary, and colorectal malignancies.

Dr. Lee's subspecialty focus is thoracic surgical oncology, encompassing lung cancer surgery from sublobar resection for stage I non-small cell lung cancer to pneumonectomy for centrally located tumours, as well as surgery for malignant pleural mesothelioma, thymoma, and metastatic disease to the lungs. She has been an early adopter of uniportal and robotic-assisted thoracoscopic surgery, consistently achieving superior oncological and functional outcomes through minimally invasive approaches that reduce recovery time and pulmonary function impairment.

She participates actively in clinical trials evaluating neo-adjuvant immunotherapy followed by surgery for resectable lung cancer, and investigates circulating tumour DNA as a biomarker of minimal residual disease after thoracic resection. Her publications appear in the Journal of Thoracic Oncology and Annals of Thoracic Surgery, and she has been invited to chair sessions at the International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer annual meeting.

Dr. Lee believes that a cancer diagnosis should not define a person's life, and works tirelessly to help patients maintain quality of life and functional independence through and after cancer treatment.
