The Paediatric Orthopaedics & Scoliosis Centre at SilverOak Health provides specialist musculoskeletal care for children from infancy through skeletal maturity, addressing congenital, developmental, and acquired orthopaedic conditions that require expertise specific to the growing skeleton. Our paediatric orthopaedic surgeons, paediatric anaesthesiologists, and specialist nurses create a child-friendly environment in which families feel confident and supported throughout diagnosis, treatment, and recovery.

Scoliosis management is a core focus of our programme. Adolescent idiopathic scoliosis — the most common spinal deformity in children — is managed with observation for mild curves, Rigo Chêneau or Boston brace treatment for curves in the bracing range, and posterior spinal fusion with pedicle screw instrumentation for progressive curves exceeding surgical thresholds. Neuromuscular scoliosis, congenital scoliosis, and early-onset scoliosis requiring growing rod constructs or vertebral body tethering are managed with the multidisciplinary expertise these complex conditions demand.

Developmental dysplasia of the hip is managed with Pavlik harness treatment in infants and with surgical reduction, pelvic and femoral osteotomies, and acetabular reconstruction for older children with residual dysplasia. Perthes disease and slipped capital femoral epiphysis are managed with observation, bracing, and surgical pinning or osteotomy according to age, severity, and imaging findings. Clubfoot treatment using the Ponseti method achieves correction in over 95% of cases with a series of casting followed by percutaneous Achilles tenotomy and bracing.

Limb lengthening and deformity correction using circular external fixation (Taylor Spatial Frame) or intramedullary nailing addresses limb length discrepancy and angular deformities from any cause — growth disturbance, congenital anomaly, or post-traumatic. Paediatric fracture care, including growth plate fracture management that minimises the risk of physeal arrest, and management of acute and chronic bone infections (osteomyelitis and septic arthritis), complete our paediatric orthopaedic offering.

Metabolic bone disease, osteogenesis imperfecta, skeletal dysplasias, and neuromuscular conditions such as cerebral palsy and Duchenne muscular dystrophy — all of which have significant orthopaedic manifestations — are managed in close collaboration with paediatric neurology, endocrinology, and genetics. Our multidisciplinary paediatric orthopaedic MDT reviews complex cases weekly, ensuring that surgical planning integrates all relevant medical and developmental considerations. Families are supported by our specialist nurses and physiotherapists throughout every stage of treatment.
