Rehabilitation Medicine

Rehabilitation Medicine at SilverOak Health focuses on restoring function, independence, and quality of life for patients who have experienced significant physical disability as a result of neurological injury, musculoskeletal trauma, major surgery, or prolonged critical illness. Our rehabilitation physicians, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, and clinical psychologists work as an integrated multidisciplinary team around each patient's personalised rehabilitation goals.

Neurological rehabilitation addresses the functional consequences of stroke, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, and neurodegenerative conditions. Early mobilisation, constraint-induced movement therapy, functional electrical stimulation, and intensive task-specific training are core components of our neurorehabilitation programmes. Goal-setting with patients and families ensures that rehabilitation efforts are directed at the outcomes that matter most to each individual.

Musculoskeletal rehabilitation supports recovery following orthopaedic surgery including joint replacement, spinal surgery, and fracture repair, as well as sports injuries and amputation. Our physiotherapy team uses exercise prescription, manual therapy, hydrotherapy, and progressive functional training to rebuild strength, endurance, and movement quality.

Cardiopulmonary rehabilitation programmes support recovery after cardiac surgery, myocardial infarction, and respiratory failure. Structured exercise, education, and psychological support reduce hospital readmissions, improve exercise capacity, and enhance quality of life for patients managing chronic cardiopulmonary conditions.

Inpatient rehabilitation is available within a dedicated unit with specialist nursing, therapy gyms, and assistive technology. Community and outpatient rehabilitation services ensure that functional gains made in hospital are consolidated and extended at home. We use validated outcome measures including the Functional Independence Measure throughout rehabilitation to track progress and demonstrate recovery.
