Haematology

Haematology at SilverOak Health provides expert diagnosis and management of malignant and non-malignant blood disorders across the full spectrum from common conditions to rare haematological malignancies. Our consultant haematologists bring subspecialty expertise in lymphoma, leukaemia, myeloma, myeloproliferative neoplasms, myelodysplastic syndromes, haemostasis and thrombosis, haemoglobinopathies, and immune cytopenias.

Diagnostic haematology services include bone marrow aspiration and trephine biopsy with comprehensive morphological, flow cytometric, cytogenetic, and molecular analysis, enabling accurate classification of haematological malignancies according to current WHO criteria. Minimal residual disease (MRD) testing by highly sensitive molecular or flow cytometric methods guides treatment decisions in acute leukaemia and myeloma, identifying patients who require treatment intensification or consolidation.

Treatment for haematological malignancies includes conventional and novel chemotherapy regimens, targeted agents such as ibrutinib, venetoclax, ruxolitinib, and azacitidine, bispecific T-cell engagers, and CAR-T cell therapy within our accredited cellular therapy programme. Haematopoietic stem cell transplantation — both autologous and allogeneic — is performed for eligible patients within our transplant unit. Non-malignant haematology services cover anticoagulation management, thrombosis investigation and treatment, bleeding disorder management including haemophilia and von Willebrand disease, haemolytic anaemias, and transfusion medicine. Our haemostasis and thrombosis clinic provides specialist assessment and long-term management for patients with complex coagulation disorders.
