Endocrine conditions managed include type 1 and type 2 diabetes mellitus, gestational diabetes, thyroid disorders (hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism, thyroid nodules, and thyroid cancer), adrenal disorders (Cushing's syndrome, primary hyperaldosteronism, phaeochromocytoma, adrenal insufficiency), pituitary diseases (acromegaly, prolactinoma, Cushing's disease, hypopituitarism), parathyroid disorders, polycystic ovary syndrome, and neuroendocrine tumours.
Our diabetes service offers structured patient education programmes (DESMOND, DAFNE), continuous glucose monitoring interpretation clinics, insulin pump therapy initiation and optimisation, and management of complex diabetes complications including diabetic foot, nephropathy, retinopathy, and neuropathy within specialist multidisciplinary clinics. The endocrine investigation unit performs dynamic function tests (synacthen, insulin stress, oral glucose tolerance, and water deprivation tests) with experienced nursing supervision. Thyroid ultrasound and fine-needle aspiration cytology are available on-site, and our pituitary MDT meets monthly to manage complex pituitary tumours in collaboration with neurosurgery and radiation oncology.
